If you are considering enrolling your child into swim lessons, you know that there are plenty of swim schools to choose from. So what makes us stand out from the rest? Our loyal customers love Five Star Swim Schools for many reasons inside and outside of the pool.

The best way to determine that Five Star is the best place for your child is to come in for a trial class. You may have questions prior to setting up a trial class, so continue reading this post to discover why we call ourselves Five Star!

Something that sets our pool apart from others is that it is a salt water pool! Sanitizing the pool with salt rather than traditional chemical methods is beneficial for many reasons. Pools with salt water systems produce water that is less harsh than other pools. Our guests notice that the water at Five Star Swim School is softer on the eyes and skin. Most people whose bodies typically become irritated during or after swimming are able to use our pool without issues. If you are interested in finding out more about our salt water pool, you may like to read our blog post titled “Salt Water System”.

All of our locations feature warm indoor pools, allowing our students to continue learning no matter the season! Our pool water is always heated to a comfortable 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Other benefits of participating in swim lessons at an indoor pool include the fact that it does not close due to poor weather such as rain or thunder storms. Additionally, our guests do not have to worry about a pool filled with bugs and leaves or the annoyance of seasonal bugs such as mosquitoes who love outdoor bodies of water.

Five Star Swim School

Five Star Swim Schools offer swim lessons like no other school! We maintain a small 3:1 student to teacher ratio in our group classes which reach capacity at six students; this is half the size of the leading competitor’s group lessons. Small class sizes allow your child to get the most out of their lesson in a safe environment. In classes with more than three students per instructor, more unsafe situations may arise.

We provide quality swim lessons for students of all ages and capabilities. Our classes are grouped by age and split into sublevels based on skill. Your child can begin participating in swim lessons as young as six months old in our parent and child “Seahorse” classes which have 2 levels. By the age of 2 and a half, students begin to learn independently without the help of their parents in our “Guppy” group which has 3 skill levels. Our “Dolphin” (ages 5-8), “Shark” (ages 8-12) and “Sea Lion” (ages 12-15) groups each have 5 skill levels. Students who complete all 5 levels can continue strengthening and perfecting their techniques in our “Stroke Development” class, where they may also learn a few new things! If you are interested in learning more about what each of our groups practice, keep an eye out for our upcoming blog posts that include those details.

Prior to enrollment, new students complete a trial class to determine which level is most appropriate for their skill level. Typically, potential students are placed in the first level for their age group for the trial class. However, if a customer has experience, one can discuss the ability of the student with one of our office members to determine which class would be the best fit for their trial class. After the trial class, the instructor will inform the office of the student’s capabilities and the office will assist our new customer with the registration process. Once a student is placed in a level, they are not locked into that level until the end of the session. If an instructor notices that a student can easily complete the focal points of the level in which they are placed, they will let the office know that the student can move up a level.

All of our staff members go through the same training process to ensure that each student receives the same quality lesson. Upon hiring, each new employee reviews the different levels we teach and which techniques are covered in the handbook. Before entering the pool to do some hands on training, new instructors observe lessons from the side of the pool to get a better understanding of what is expected of them. After observing, the new instructor will begin shadowing sewim lessons (not yet included in the ratio). Once they are comfortable, the employee becomes an assistant on classes. Over time, the instructor will become confident enough to lead classes on their own. By implementing this system of training, we can be sure each of our instructors is teaching to our Five Star standard.

Our schools offer swim lessons all year long with each session surrounding a season. Sessions run for 5-14 weeks but anyone is welcome to enroll into open classes at any point during a session. Prices are prorated weekly for customers who would like to begin participating in a session which has already begun. Discounts are offered for families with multiple students and various promotions are available based on location.

At Five Star, we understand that being a parent has its difficult moments, which is why we allow two make-up classes per student, per session. While it can be helpful to know when a student is going to be absent, it is not necessary for our customers to inform us that they will be absent; their two make-up classes are available to use whenever they are needed. We also allow our customers to permanently change the day and time of their lesson once during the session, as sometimes schedules change and can cause conflict.

If you are weighing out your options for the ideal swim school, look no further! With three convenient locations, Five Star Swim School is the place for you! We provide quality swim lessons for all ages nearly every day, all year long. Contact the location nearest you to set up a trial class for your child today!
